I was an enthusiast from the start. My roots began with an interest of piercing myself and eventually my friends; all this before the era of traditional shops, internet resources, and media exposure. I was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time, which gave me the opportunity to network with some of the best piercers in the industry. I eventually found myself working my way out from under the stigmas and confines of little boutiques, BDSM parties, and the backs of tattoo shops, and finally into a professional piercing studio. Over the years I watched as legitimacy of a true piercing trade developed and public acceptance established itself. During this time I became intent on the progressive development of my work by becoming a human sponge and absorbing whatever I could. In college I attended class's pertaining to business, humanities, and of course science. I received hands on techniques training from numerous world class piercers; some medical practitioners were also willing to share their knowledge and passed down information on general sepsis control. In addition I attended piercing seminars, received Red Cross certifications, attended yearly trips to the APP conference, had numerous guest spots at studios across the country, and with the advent of the Internet - was able to keep up to date with continuous information. Lucky for me there was a lot of great support from my staff of business partners, administrators, managers, piercers, tattoo artists, counter kids, and clients that made me what I am 15 years later. On a personal note, I feel that there must always be a balance. I live and share a home with my wife Jo and our two young boys Aiden and Cooper. I have 2 dogs, practice various disciplines of martial arts, enjoy outdoor activities, and make music whenever I can. |
